TNT Express, one of the leading B2B express delivery companies, has won the supplier award from the Bosch Group, one of Germany’s largest industrial foundations.
In other TNT-related developments, the company added 20 countries including Iraq, Libya, Morocco and Sri Lanka – to its ‘Express Import’ service, and Wilson Logistics Group took an important step in integrating into TNT by changing its name to TNT Freight Management.
The Bosch award recognises TNT’s outstanding performance in supplying quality, cost-effectiveness and delivery reliability on behalf of Bosch for 2003 and 2004.
Bosch suppliers worldwide are invited to compete for the award, which is conferred every two years and which also focuses on continual product development and technological potential.
TNT Express provides Bosch with its logistics services worldwide.
The 20 new countries in TNT’s Express Import service stand to gain in that the service allows customers to arrange collections from an overseas client and pay for delivery in their own currency or send shipments overseas and have recipients pay for the transaction in their local currency, the company said.
“With all the GCC countries already being well established in the Express Import network, this expansion gives our regionwide clientele access to a greater geographic spread for this convenience product, which removes any difficulties arising from exchange rate conversions or fluctuations,” said Mark Pell, TNT’s managing director, Gulf and Saudi Arabia.
“Customer service is at the heart of everything we do and the expansion of Express Import, to some of the Gulf’s key trading partners, shows our commitment to handling all our customer’s import requirements, from contacting overseas suppliers and ensuring consignments are picked up promptly to taking care of all necessary paperwork and customs clearance.”
Other countries now joining the Express Import network include Brunei, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Madagascar and Morocco and TNT says another 25 countries will be added within six months.
“The Express Import network stands at well over 100 countries and it is TNT’s intention to continue the expansion until it reaches every country in the world,” explained Pell.
Customers using Express Import can send consignments with TNT’s 9.00 express, 12.00 express, Global express and economy express services. They can follow their consignments’ progress with TNT’s web-based track-and-trace system and gain simplicity and control of delivery and costs through a single invoice.
Wilson Logistics Group has integrated into TNT by changing its name to TNT Freight Management nearly a year after it was acquired by TNT in August 2004, adding a complete and globally standardised freight service offer and leading e-services to its express and logistics portfolio.
“Customers are increasingly demanding complete end-to-end logistics solutions with total supply chain visibility. TNT Freight Management has the competence to supply and combine freight services, information management and added value into integrated solutions,” an official said. As part of the Logistics division, TNT Freight Management supports TNT’s capacity to offer customers one partner to solve their supply chain challenges worldwide.”
The new brand is expected to bring benefits to the former Wilson organisation. “The name TNT, a strong and global brand, will give higher visibility and credibility worldwide. It will emphasise our joint service offer and help us in customer contacts”, says Jeff Hoogesteger, MD TNT Freight Management.
The new profile will be evident in a new TNT look for all communications from signs and business cards to invoices and web design. The change mainly refers to the brand, corporate identity and company name. In all other respects the company remains the same; the people, services, expertise and values as well as addresses.
TNT NV, the holding company of the group, recently re-branded from TPG into TNT. Ultimately, TNT will operate globally under the TNT brand for all its activities.
TNT Freight Management provides air, sea-freight and logistics services within an international network and employs approximately 2,200 people in 28 countries. TNT Freight Management is a business unit of TNT Logistics.
