Ashkar: strong support from Saudi Arabia

Acer Computer ME displayed its new range of notebook PCs based on the new Centrino chipset (codenamed Sonoma) at Saudi Gitex 2005.

It was the only only global branded PC vendor to participate directly at the exhibition with its own stand.
Visitors could see and test Acer’s full product range, including desktop and notebook PCs, servers, projectors, LCD monitors and its new line of digital cameras.
Acer, which has been the number one supplier of notebook PCs in the kingdom for 15 months, according to figures from international analysts IDC,  also demonstrated a range of solutions for business, government, education and home users.
“Customers in   Saudi Arabia have shown strong and loyal support to Acer over many years,” said Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer ME. “Our strategy of empowering people by delivering the most advanced technology available has been favorably received by the kingdom’s consumers.”
Acer’s line of notebooks featuring Intel’s new Centrino chipset took centre stage at Saudi Gitex, which ran from April 24 to 28 in Riyadh. Four of the company’s latest offerings, the Aspire 1690 and TravelMate 4100, 4600 and 8100 were featured.
Each of the models has innovative Acer technology, including CrystalBrite TFT display, which blocks reflection and provides superior brightness, and Acer’s eManager allows users to quickly access key functions at the touch of button.
New models of Acer’s Veriton desktop PCs such as the VT7700G, VT5700G and VT3700G aimed at both the commercial and consumer markets were available to test during the show.
Acer’s recently launched Digital Still Cameras (DSC), which have between five and six megapixles per inch, were highlighted during the exhibition.
 The five-megapixel Acer CR-5130 has a 1.8” CCD sensor, a 1.5” LCD TFT and a maximum resolution of 2560 x1920.
