Sierra Wireless has announced an agreement with Brightpoint Middle East to distribute wireless wide area network cards and rugged wireless modems to select markets in the region.

The wireless wide area network cards are AirCards 775, 555 and 580 and the rugged modems are MP 775 GPS and MP 555 GPS.
Sierra recently established a regional office in Dubai.
Brightpoint Middle East is based in Dubai and has become a leading provider of value-added logistics, specialised distribution, and order fulfillment services to network operators, vendors, and second- and third-tier handset manufacturers. Under the terms of the agreement, Brightpoint Middle East will handle third-party logistics and distribution of the Sierra Wireless products to resellers in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Bahrain, and Afghanistan.

AirCard 775 provides anywhere-access to Edge (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) and GSM/GPRS networks.
The AirCard 580 is designed for access to CDMA 1xEV-DO networks and offers reliable high-speed connectivity with average user speeds of 300-500 kilobits per second (kbps) and peak data speeds of up to 2.4 Megabits per second (Mbps), one of the fastest wireless data transmission speeds available today.
The AirCard 555 is a high-speed wireless wide area network (WWAN) card offering both wireless data and voice functionality.
The MP 775 GPS is designed for use in public safety, field service, and transportation industries and includes an integrated GPS module for vehicle tracking.
Present at a press conference to announce the agreement were Simon Richards, general manager for Middle East and North Africa (Mena) and marketing and commercial development director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Carl Lewin, general manager Mena and technical and solutions integration director EMEA, and Scott Archibald, vice president for Sales, Brightpoint Middle East.
