French Arcure has launched in the Middle East a rear camera for industrial vehicles. The embedded vision-based system called Blaxtair will help increase safety at work sites as it is aimed at reducing collision between machines and pedestrians, the firm says. Paris-based Arcure is a high-tech company developing industrial vision systems to improve operational safety and productivity, especially on construction sites, according to Franck Gayraud, its CFO. The company exhibited the product at the recently concluded Intermat show in Abu Dhabi. Blaxtair is a rear camera and is also an obstacle detection device and pedestrian recognition equipment. It is capable of detecting all types of obstacles, locating them precisely with respect to the machine and on top of that, determining whether an obstacle is a pedestrian or not. Blaxtair warns the driver only when a pedestrian is running a danger of being hit by the machine. 'No other obstacle detection device available today on the market is capable of detecting and discriminating in real time a pedestrian among other obstacles. This outstanding ability is a key feature of an efficient warning system running in an industrial environment,' says Gayraud. 'It can raise a reliable and pertinent alarm, minimising false and useless alerts. As soon as a pedestrian is detected, Arcure’s device assesses the collision probability. It delivers a sounding and flashing alarm towards the driver, and possibly towards the pedestrian at risk.' In addition, Blaxtair provides the driver with high-quality undistorted large field images through a control display. Classical rear cameras offer a strongly distorted image while Blaxtair image processing provides the driver with an undistorted image, allowing him to better interpret distances and shapes on his screen,' he says.
