Fire resistant tank launched

Oil storage tank specialist Envirostore has announced a significant new addition to the company’s range of heating oil storage tanks with the launch of an all-new, fire resistant bunded oil storage tank.

The new 1,000 litres capacity model attracted significant interest at the FPS Expo in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, from visiting oil heating technicians and fuel distributors. It has been designed primarily for the storage of heating oil, as Envirostore’s sales director Richard Marsh explained.

Speaking with OilFiredUp.com at the event, Richard said: "The new model has been engineered from the outset to comply with fire protection requirements at domestic oil storage installations and consists of a steel outer tank and an insulated inner tank.

"Incorporating an inherently useful 1,000 litres fuel storage capacity, the new model can eliminate the requirement to construct fire barriers, saving technicians both time and money. Usefully, incorporating the fire protection within the oil storage system also reduces the amount of space required, compared with the installation or construction of alternative technologies."

"The tank will shortly be undergoing independent certification and approval to ensure compliance with Building Regulations. We are confident that it will provide a minimum of 30 minutes’ resistance against fire, as required by both British Standard BS5410 and Building Regulations in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

"Following certification and approval, we expect it will be available to order from Envirostore stockists and resellers later this year."

The new model joins a range of six single-skin and eight bunded oil tank modes available from Envirostore.
