Italy-based OMS Impianti, which offers advanced technologies for extrusion plants, says it is now focusing on the Middle East to expand its market base.
The company specialises in the engineering and construction of machinery for the aluminium industry and offers its clients complete and up-to-date plants at very competitive prices and with relatively short delivery periods, according to Mauro Spizzo, an official of the company who was in Dubai recently to participate in Alumex 2007.
“We were recently awarded a contract for the completion of a complete handling system in the ME where all machines before and after extrusion press were installed,” says Spizzo.
“All billet handling, heating and cutting was implemented by double chain log feeder, high-efficiency log heater and vertical hot shear with compensated cut - no scrap system.
“After the press an independent double puller with a flying cut system was installed. Each puller and hot saw run on separate runway guides eliminating vibrations and making it possible to work with one puller if needed. This system makes it possible to undertake extruding and fly-cutting up to 80 m/min, while not needing the return speed of pullers or hot saw higher than 120 m/min,” he says.
All the machines have wireless-optic data transmission, laser measurements and an on-board hydraulic station. The state-of-the-art system also includes a one-man stretcher system, a final gauge table and an ageing system.
Besides traditional systems, OMS Impianti offers two automatic and innovative patented solutions for extrusion. These are the FTS (fixed translation system) and Moby Dick (automatic continuous ageing system). The purpose of these systems is to automate completely the course from press exit to packaging.
