Gunnebo Dubai has been awarded a contract to provide security solutions for Emirates Airlines’ new engineering centre in partnership with the Transguard Group.

The contract covers the supply, installation and maintenance of high specification cantilever gates, car park barriers and entrance control solutions for the new Dh1 billion ($272 million) facility at the Dubai International Airport.
“The high quality and robust Gunnebo systems fit our criteria satisfying the dynamic and ever increasing security requirements of the rapidly expanding Emirates Group,” says Dr Abdulla Al Hashimi, senior vice president, Emirates Group Security.
Emirates’ new engineering centre will become one of the largest civil aviation maintenance facilities in the world. Eight enormous aircraft hangars will cater to the airline’s entire aircraft fleet, including the new Airbus 380s. These hangars are at the heart of a large complex that also comprises an office administration block, an aircraft washing bay, a waste treatment plant, a mosque and covered car park for 2,000 cars. There will also be a secure gatehouse through which all staff, visitors and vehicles will pass by police control.
“This is the biggest building project undertaken by Emirates to date and we are delighted to have been entrusted with the security system contract,” says Simon Precious, director of the solutions division of Transguard Group.” In keeping with strict technical and performance requirements demanded by Emirates Group Security, we provide a comprehensive security system that capitalises on the very latest electronic and physical security technical systems.
Systems provided by Gunnebo include cantilever sliding gates, Boomsec car park barriers and hidden gate entrance control solutions.
