Libya’s leading beverages producer Al Mazraa has announced the launch of its juice nectars in 2-litre combiblocMaxi carton packs.
It will be the first time that aseptic packaging for that size will be produced in the Middle East. “Already a success in Europe, the 2-litre packs from SIG Combibloc Obeikan have finally made a grand debut in the Arab region with Al Mazraa,” said a spokesman of the packaging firm.
“At 1.7 LYD ($1.3) a pack, Al Mazraa’s nectars in combiblocMaxi have become the preferred beverage in the price-sensitive Libyan market,” said the spokesman. “Open for private businesses in 2005, Libya is still dominated by foreign imports from all across the world. In this highly competitive scenario, the local company Al Aseel has remained triumphant with their high-quality drink brand Al Mazraa catering successfully to the needs of the local consumers.”
The company assessed the flood of imported goods and sought to make a difference by offering locally produced products at a lower cost. It had already achieved high sales for drinks sold in 200-ml and 1-litre combibloc cartons packs.
“Always dynamic, we were quick to identify the necessity for bigger ‘economic’ packs that delivered the same great taste,” says Naser Al Najjar purchasing manager of Al Mazraa. Choosing their most successful flavours – red grape, pear, carrot and orange, mango and fruit cocktail – Al Mazraa set out to ‘splash’ the market with its new bigger packs through large-scale advertising.
Al Najjar said part of his company’s good fortune was to be the first in the Arabian market to introduce the new 2-litre combiblocMaxi.
The company has five state-of-the-art filling lines from Germany’s SIG Combibloc and a new factory expansion is in progress,
