Meeza has announced the opening of M-Vault 1, a state-of-the-art Data Centre based on Tier 3 specifications, at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP).
The company also signed an agreement with Fuego Digital Media QSTP-LLC, a ‘software on demand’ company headquartered at QSTP to provide it with highly available, scalable and secure Data Centre Services.
Fuego is building the ‘Fuego On Demand’ Service to provide simple Web-based business applications in Arabic, English and French to the 5.3 million small and medium-size enterprises (SME) across the 22 countries of the Middle East and North Africa region.
M-Vault 1 will be the foundation from which Meeza will offer world-class managed IT services and solutions to the market, said QSTP.
As a member of QSTP, Meeza is fully aligned with the park’s vision of spurring the development of Qatar’s economy.
QSTP is a home for technology-based companies from around the world and is the ideal base for Meeza to support the continued growth of Qatar and the region through delivering much needed IT Services and Solutions.
Dr Eulian Roberts, managing director of QSTP, stated: “Data centres are both vital to the research process and a spring-board for innovative new enterprises. Meeza’s new M-Vault 1 represents an engine that will accelerate these advances in Qatar.”
By using secure and highly available IT Services, clients of Meeza can realise cost savings from a reduced need to invest capital in IT infrastructure. M-Vault 1 is the first of its kind in Qatar and is located at a highly secure location within the Science and Technology Park. It offers clients 99.98 per cent availability, the highest levels offered by commercial data centres in Qatar. Additional data centres are being established in the country.
Hamad Al Mannai, Deputy CEO of Meeza, stated: “Meeza has invested in this world-class Data Centre because we believe that IT security and availability of data are very important to our clients and this facility will enable us to deliver secure and cost-effective IT services to our clients.”
The first services to be offered from M-Vault 1 to clients such as Vodafone Qatar and Masraf Al Rayan include managed storage, network and security as well as disaster recovery capabilities. Meeza is also uniquely positioned to introduce Cloud services to the region.
Fuego
Speaking about Fuego’s market opportunity, Kevin Higgins, its CEO, said: “Increasingly, the Web is becoming the primary means of an organisation’s interaction with customers, citizens, partners and employees. A key to improving SME business growth and profitability across MENA is to provide access to better Web applications.”
“Meeza is proud to be able to contribute to the success of Fuego through this agreement. By delivering high-quality managed IT services and solutions, we aim to support the growth and success of companies like Fuego in Qatar and across the region,” stated Al Mannai, Meeza deputy CEO.
“Fuego will be providing mission-critical services to its SME customers and reliability and security are of paramount concern to us,” said Karl Gretton, Fuego’s chief technology officer. “We will be relying on Meeza to meet our needs today and in the future as we scale our business up to tens of thousands of customers across the region.”
