The agreement was signed by Norbert Brauneis, general manager of Labtec, and Dr Taj Al Sir, head of the faculty of science and technology, University of Khartoum. Labtec will design, supply, install and commission the full range of furniture and equipment for 17 science laboratories – 15 in the main campus of the university and two in the university’s Shambat campus.
“The company will implement the Labtec standard range Series 3 furniture and fume cupboards in the new laboratories,” a Labtec spokesman said.
“We are delighted to secure this important project, which further expands our portfolio and strengthens our presence in the regional market,” Brauneis said. “As the region’s premier player in the specialised market of laboratory furniture solutions, Labtec has implemented projects across the Mena region and beyond, and the company’s excellent track record and reputation has been a decisive factor in Labtec being consistently chosen to execute key laboratory projects.”
Brauneis said there had been a renewed focus across the Mena region on building advanced educational and research capabilities, leading to a sharp spike in demand for high-quality laboratory furniture solutions.
“Labtec is uniquely positioned to cater to this demand, and has been augmenting its operational capabilities to address evolving market requirements,” he added.
The Sharah-based company has over the years successfully implemented a number of laboratory projects across the Middle East, including in all of the GCC countries. It has also expanded its activities to South Asia. It has installed its furniture in 22 countries.
