Sayyid Shihab opening the plant

A new Omani plant for manufacturing ceramic wall and floor tiles has commenced production in Sohar in the northern region of the Sultanate.

Al Maha Ceramics Company, an associate firm of Al Anwar Holdings, has a designed capacity of 5 million sq m of tiles annually in several designs and shades. “The tiles are manufactured in keeping with international standards with designs sourced from leading Italian firms,” a statement said.
General manager Suresh Deshmukh said the company would hold a substantial market share in Oman.
The plant will fulfil the long-felt needs of the Oman people he added. Staff would advice customers on tiles specifications suitable for various conditions and offer information on tile care and treatment.
Dealers will be appointed for the GCC, India and Africa regions
The plant uses locally available raw materials with frits, glazes and pigments imported from leading manufacturers in Italy and Spain.
The inauguration was performed by Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, advisor to the Sultan of Oman.
