Power-Gen Middle East 2008, the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power and water industries, has announced the preliminary conference programme for the forthcoming event in Bahrain from February 4 to 6.

Well-known speakers and industry professionals will deliver presentations on a range of topics and subjects covering the power and water industries, including spotlights on countries such as Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Egypt.
The presentation will broadly come under three tracks – Strategic Power, Technical Power and Water.
The Strategic Power Track discusses pivotal issues including market restructuring and regulations, implementing major power projects and grid security and interconnections. Presentations include contributions from: Dr Hamid Zargarpour, managing director, Mapna International FZE, Iran; Hassan Al-Asaad, corporate affairs, GCC Interconnection Authority, Saudi Arabia; and Abdussalam Al-Janad, director of the Public Electricity Corporation’s (PEC) new and renewable energy department, Yemen
The Technical Power Track looks at industry developments including major IWPPs, plant design efficiency and emerging technologies. Contributors to the conference programme include: Dr Thorsten Krol, head of mechanical design group, Siemens Power Generation, Germany; Mohamed Khaled El-Sayed, head of distributors sector & general supervisor for SCADA System, Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Egypt; and Dr Sacha Parneix, senior product specialist Turbomachines, Alstom, UAE
The Water Track tackles the strategic and technical issues surrounding the water industry and its close relationship to the power sector. The conference will see a range of industry professionals including: Mohamed Ismail, chief chemist, West El Delta Co for Electricity Production - “Sidi Krir Power Station”, Egypt; Gary Wong, global water industry executive, OSIsoft, Inc, USA; and Mauro Provera, chemical department manager, Ansaldo Energia, Italy
Power-Gen Middle East will receive over 3,000 industry professionals, who will gather for three days to enjoy the industry’s leading conference and experience the latest developments and ideas for the future of the Middle East power and water sectors.
