Several thousand ports worldwide are featured along with useful details in the Fairplay Ports Guide for 2001-2002, the UK-based publishing house has announced.
With details on over 6,500 ports and terminals, the new guide is the most comprehensive reference work ever produced for commercial port facilities worldwide, according to Fairplay. It is being offered as a four-volume printed set as well as on CD-ROM and is also available to subscribers in an online version with daily updates.
"The plus 5,700-page printed Ports Guide contains all the essential details needed by a ship's master prior to visiting any port. Over 30 fields of information are presented for each port in a standard clear layout. Over 3,500 port plans are also presented, as well as a convenient port location atlas and distance tables indexed by port name and country. Address and contact details are provided for over 17,700 in-port service providers," Fairplay said.
It said the CD-ROM version included all the information provided in the printed volumes, as well as an enhanced distance table, ETA calculator, colour photographs of ports and a new ship index containing details on over 42,000 vessels.
"The interactive software on the CD-ROM permits the user to select ports by draft limitation, facilities or distance from a given location. Notes may be added by the user for each port. A flexible report generator allows for customised reports," Fairplay explained.
Fairplay is also offering the Ports and Terminals Guide Online, which includes details for over 5,000 tanker terminals worldwide. Port news is gathered from Fairplay's international network of agents and posted daily, ensuring users have the most recent information.
The printed 2001-2002 Fairplay Ports Guide may be purchased for $425 and includes the CD-ROM. The CD-ROM alone is available for $400 for a single-user version or ($900 for a network version. A single-user license for the Ports and Terminals Guide Online is $400 per annum. A company license costs $900. Orders may be placed online at Fairplay's website: www.fairplay.co.uk.
