Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) will complete major combat system upgrades for a series of six missile patrol boats in the UAE Navy following a contract it signed with the UAE Armed Forces.
The contract, valued at more than $40 million, will improve the capabilities of the vessels by integrating and installing new, state-of-the-art combat equipment as well as substantially upgrading the existing shipboard systems.
ADSB was selected as the prime contractor for the project named Tarif-45. In this role, ADSB will have full responsibility for the complex upgrades that will be performed at its facilities in Abu Dhabi. The company will team with other international firms, which will serve as subcontractors to ADSB in completing the work including the combat system integration company SaabTech Systems (formerly CelsiusTech) of Sweden.
"We are extremely pleased that the Navy has selected our company for this important contact and we look forward to working with them on a very successful project," said Abdullah Nasser bin Huwaileel Al Mansouri, chairman of ADSB.
