Conmex has tied up with IMAG, organiser of Bauma, the largest construction machinery show in the world, for promoting and marketing Conmex internationally, according to a spokesman for Expo Centre Sharjah.
Expo Centre Sharjah is the organiser of Conmex, the Middle East’s only trade exhibition exclusively for construction machinery, equipment, vehicles and spare parts.
The next Conmex show takes place from November 5 to 8 this year.
Growing economies in the Middle East are powering projects and making investment in all sectors including oil and gas, industry, real estate and tourism. It is estimated that there are currently over $650 billion worth of active projects in the Gulf and projects worth another $650 billion announced but not yet begun. The UAE is the Gulf’s largest construction market with over $350 billion active projects in the federation.
Conmex, organised with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), was pioneered to meet the shortage of machinery, equipment and spares for the industry and also to bring together a wide range of construction machinery, equipment and commercial vehicle suppliers in order to bridge the gap between supply and demand.
As the show grows bigger, international tie-up has been built up with IMAG – International Trade Fair Service, Germany. IMAG is a member of Munich International Trade Fairs Group, organiser of Bauma, and has further experience in construction machinery shows in China, Russia, Algeria and Iran. IMAG will be associated with Conmex for promoting and marketing the show internationally and for further developing its concept as the region’s leading event. The third edition of Conmex in 2008 will be organised jointly by Expo Centre Sharjah and IMAG. The booking for the same will start at the earliest and the space will be allotted to all exhibitors on a first-come-first-served basis.
With its first edition in 2006 Conmex provided the construction industry with the participation of over 250 brands from 21 countries and visitors numbering 6,282 from 63 countries.
The second edition of Conmex to be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from November 5-8, 2007 will see the participation of a large number of exhibitors from the previous edition with many of them imposing a stronger presence this time around with bigger booth spaces.
Caterpillar; Terex-Eae; Hyundai - Al Wasit, Raimondi-Al Bakhit; Bobcat; Grove-Kanoo Machinery (Liebherr, Potain, Alimak); Modern Emirates Heavy Cranes; Swaidan Trading-Al Naboodah Group and Saca International are among the companies that have significantly increased their exhibition space in the 2007 edition of Conmex.
Besides witnessing an increase in exhibition space by exhibitors from the previous edition, this year’s Conmex will be host to several new international companies dealing in construction-related equipment and vehicles. Among them are Simex from Italy; Valla Cranes-UK; USG Products FE PTE Ltd-Singapore; Global Track Warehouse-Australia; Mann + Hummel-Germany; Ogura and Company and K K Meiwa-Japan; Industrias Technoflex SA-Spain, Houston and China; Hydravlika-Slovania; Kran Serv -Russia and many more.
The exhibition displays the entire range of plant and machinery, commercial vehicles, lifting and conveying equipment, construction equipment, tools and special systems, formwork and scaffolding, construction site facilities, spare parts and accessories, communication and navigation equipment, and safety equipment used in the construction process.
It is expected that over 30,000 sq m of space will be utilised for display during the event. This includes indoor exhibition space comprising four halls of Expo Centre Sharjah and measuring a total of 16,000 sq m and outdoor display area of 15,000 sq m. Of this, 10,000 sq m will host live demonstrations, seminars, conferences and product presentations.
The outdoor display area will be particularly devoted to the display of medium to heavy machinery and vehicles. Conmex is the Middle East’s first trade show for construction machinery, equipment, and vehicles to feature such a large outdoor display area.
The debut edition of Conmex in 2006 showcased 250 brands and companies from 21 countries. Among the major international brands represented at the event were Copma, Caterpillar, Hyundai, Sennebogen, Kobelco, Liebherr, Potain, Alimak, Dynapac, Atlas Copco, Stetter, Sandvik, Vogele, Snowkey, Sany, Raimondi, Eicher, CGR, RKF, Scania, Daewoo, Hyster, Bobcat, Grove, Konecranes, Soilmec, Terex, and Belle.
It had attracted a total of 6,282 trade visitors from 63 countries. Of the total turnout, 58.8 per cent, translating to 3,695 visitors, were from the GCC region including the UAE.
This year’s Conmex will feature an even more comprehensive range of construction-related machinery, equipment, and vehicles used in the construction process
As in the previous edition, this time, too, Conmex will be a major networking platform for global manufacturers of construction machinery and vehicles. It will be an ideal event for senior personnel of the exhibiting companies and key personnel and decision-makers from the construction industry, contracting companies, traders, distributors, stockists of construction machinery and equipment, service providers including transport companies, consultants, renting and leasing agencies, and public administration and building authorities from across the Middle East and North Africa region to explore business potential, finalise deals and discuss crucial issues concerning the regional construction industry.
A major highlight of Conmex is the live demonstrations of tower cranes, fork lifts, earthmovers, and other light and medium range machinery, equipment, and vehicles. Again, it is for the first time in the region that live demonstrations of so many construction machineries and equipment are being held together at a single venue.
