A spinning unit that WestPoint Home will be operating in Bahrain

US company WestPoint Home said that its purchase of mills in Askar, Bahrain, from Manama Textiles Mills (MTM) is complete and operations would begin there under the name of WestPoint Home.

“WestPoint Home is continuing on a course of global expansion to better service the needs of our customers,” said WestPoint Home chief executive officer Joe Pennacchio.
“This acquisition will allow us to enhance our competitive position in the worldwide marketplace.”
The Bahrain operation is a fully vertical operation with state-of-the-art equipment capable of producing a full range of bedding products.
“Our Bahrain operation represents an important step as we fully develop into a world-class global supplier capable of competing with anyone in the world,” said Pennacchio.
“Bahrain is an ideal location for us to invest considering all factors such as costs to operate, the strength and stability of the government and the Free Trade Agreement between the US and Bahrain.”
The operation will be managed by Robert Lanier, who has worked for the company since 1977 and recently served as vice-president responsible for all bedding production.
He will relocate to Bahrain and be assisted by other key US personnel with the transition.
WestPoint Home is a leading home fashions consumer products company with a wide-range of bed linens, towels, blankets and other related products.
Manama Textiles will continue to operate through its Sitra facilities targeting the denim market.
