Nakilat VI

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Co (Asry) has delivered a service vessel Nakilat VI built for the Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC).

In a speech, Asry chairman Eid Abdulla Yousif said the vessel his company had built was greatly appreciated in shipping circles.
“We succeeded in cooperating with KOTC in finding a unique design capable of performing a lot of tasks and services required by very large crude carriers during loading and at the ports,” he said.
Nakilat VI is 35 m long, 9 m broad, built to LRS Class and powered by two main engines driving twin screws. It is fitted with a bow thruster, and has a crew of six with the capability of taking some 20 passengers. Its principal role will be as a service vessel delivering potable water and necessary spares and provisions to KOTC’s fleet of tankers and other vessels.
The vessel is also fitted with a 6-tonne deck crane and a 10-tonne towing hook giving her a broad range of flexibility in the types of jobs she can undertake.  It will also have on board a sewage treatment plant and oily water separator to protect the marine environment. The cost of the building contract reached $5 million.
