Chem-Tech has announced it has installed a manufacturing line in the industrial area of Sitra to produce petroleum, oilfield and water-treatment additives.

General manager Elias Ellaz said it would be the first time in the Middle East that such additives would be produced. They would be available in multi-grade and multi-purpose categories.
Chem-Tech is now undergoing sampling and quality control, said Ellaz. “This is basically a testing period and so far the performance has been successful,” the official added. Normal production could begin by the end of February.
The company will begin with a motor oil brand named Arab-O, after which it will produce a dustless jet fuel anti-electricity additive. Other products Chem-Tech will be producing in the new line include an anti-carbon cleaner, which removes oxygen and elements of other particles. According to Ellaz, the cleaner purifies the fuel and brings it a high standard of octane. It eliminates smoke, provides fuel savings averaging between 15 and 20 per cent and brings longevity to engines.
Chem-Tech operates under the flagship of the AMA Group of Companies, whose chairman is Abdulaziz Al Abdulkader, a Saudi entrepreneur.
“We will produce one product at a time, then stock it. The capacity is 4 tonnes per day per shift. We hope to have two shifts in the second phase,” said Ellaz.
Major customers for the additives are drilling industries, water plants and refiners.
 Technology for the production has come from Tianjin Huafu Oilfield Chemicals, a Chinese specialty company mainly engaged in researching, developing, manufacturing, and marketing oilfield chemicals, providing technical services and supplying products in the field of drilling, oil production, oil refining and water treatment.
The Arab-O motor oil is made of a high quality base oil and advanced additives. Ellaz said it provided a high level of protection against high temperatures, oxidation, shearing, starting friction, heat stress and engine deposits. It would provide longer engine life and less friction and call for less maintenance.  It could be used on all gasoline engines and light duty diesel engines.
Arab-O motor oil comes as multi-purpose and multi-grade. “Arab-O is not just a lubricant; it is a two-in-one formula combining the effects of additives and lubricants. There is no need for the use of a separate additive,” said Ellaz.  “It is a high-performance additive consisting of a combination of organic compounds based on liquid carbon – hydrogens.  It does not contain any solid components like molybdenum, graphite or PTFE and it does not contain any critical substances such as chlorine, fluorine, PCB, lead and cadmium.
The second product Chem-Tech will produce, dustless jet fuel anti-electricity additive, is used in refineries for making aviation jet fuel. It can also be used as an additive in multi-polar fluid oil production. The product is composed of many kinds of compounds of high-molecule organic polar.
“Currently only DuPont makes this product and Chemtech will be the second company in the world to produce this additive with a cost that is 30 per cent lower than DuPont’s,” said Ellaz.
Chem-Tech has an existing line for making a series of detergents, the main brand for which is Wavex.
