Ajam and Rita Mulcahy of RMC Project Management

Project management has proven globally that it is very significant to manage business processes.

But awareness about the benefits of project management has not been great in the Gulf region, according to a project management consul-tant.
Realising the potential of project management in this region, Sukad, which specialises in consultancy in the field, was established two years in Dubai Knowledge Village. It aims to promote the concept of project management
There is a lot of interest in project management in the region but there is a shortage of qualified companies and consultancies and our aim is to fill that gap, says Mounir A Ajam, CEO, Sukad FZ.
Explaining the meaning of Sukad he says it is an abbreviation for Success through Unique Knowledge, Attitude and Development. “The idea is simple: our objective is to help our clients, individuals or organisations, succeed. To do this, we provide them with unique development programmes, not just training.”
Sukad’s mission is to be an effective resource in acquiring, transferring and creating professional management practices and knowledge. It wants to be an agent of change that helps organisations convert the acquired knowledge into practical applications leading to organisational success.
“The mission in simple words means we are here to awaken the giant of project management in individuals and organisations in order to help them pursue project management excellence,” Ajam says.
Sukad’s mission is first to help individuals, organisations, and even the region recognise that they each have a giant within. “This giant is dormant like a bear in hibernation, and in some cases it is scared of us as much as we are scared of it. If we are able to recognise the presence of this giant, then we need to awaken it. We need to learn how to tame it and refine it in order to serve us; otherwise an untrained giant could hurt us,” he says.
“We help you see the triggers to awaken this giant but the rest is yours. We will also help train this giant; which is now transformed into the individual, organisation, or a region. Here is another Sukad concept. Most organisations look to training and we say training is not good enough. At Sukad we take a lifelong learning approach. This lifelong learning concept is also promoted by Knowledge Village.”
Ajam says Sukad is a “business with a heart”as it bears a significant professional and social responsibility.
“We are pioneers in introducing training topics related to Organisational Project Management (OPM), which are keys for organisational success. Through our long-term involvement with the Project Management Institute (PMI), we search the globe to bring in the region outstanding global expertise and we have built many global alliances to accomplish this.”
Sukad has partnerships with the US-based Projectize Group specialising in Next Generation Project Management Office and Portfolio Management. It also has 3PM Experts from Switzerland specialising in OPM Maturity and Programme Management.
Its partners/consultants include many experts who have numerous publications to their names and who have provided services to some of the top corporate names.
Sukad has recently been awarded an exclusive agreement to represent RMC Project Management, a leading global company in PM certification training products and programmes, in the region. The product of this company is well known all over the world and sold in more than 40 countries.
Sukad’s client portfolio includes names such as Dubai Holding, Saudi Royal Commission, Saudi Basic Industries Corp (Sabic), National Bank of Abu Dhabi, National Commercial Bank, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Zakum Development Company (Zadco), among others.
