Set up with a mission to pursue excellence in education and professional practice, the Eton Education Institute for Training and Development, which opened its doors six months ago at the Dubai Knowledge Village (KV), has evoked a good response from the market, particularly for its language courses.

Eton describes itself as a one-stop professional centre for language development, consultancy in education, curriculum development, communication, teacher training, business skill development and other education-related areas including preparation for universities, says Dr Eli Abi  bin Rashid, its director. It also organises workshops for businesses in articulation, public speaking, etiquette, protocol, proper attire and body language.
Eton was established 13 years ago in Lebanon as a training institute for schools and related fields. Three years ago it moved to Cyprus and added languages to its curriculum. This year it moved to Dubai Knowledge Village. It has plans to expand within the UAE as well as open branches in other GCC countries.
“In undertaking its mission, the institute adheres to the highest academic standards in all its work, always making a positive contribution to the development of individuals, businesses and institutions who face the challenges of change,” says Dr Bin Rashid.  “To this end, Eton is engaged in high-quality research, informed learning and teaching programmes, the promotion of new ideas in professional practice, consultancy and other services.”
For businesses the institute offers workshops and courses on improving presentations, language skills and personal grooming. It also organises follow-ups to ensure the person has acquired the skills and is performing properly.
Language courses offered by Eton are different from those offered by other institutes, says Dr Bin Rashid. “Our multilevelled intensive courses are designed for specific purposes and requirements. We offer three kinds of courses: one is the regular kind held at our facility. Then we offer semi-private classes for a family or a group of friends or colleagues who can come together for classes. It is like private tuition but cheaper. We also offer tailor-made private tuitions where the client can decide the time and day.”
He stresses that fees charged by his school are lower than those charged by others and also that all the teachers are native speakers and educationists with an extensive teaching background. Eton has already worked with local government ministries, airlines, schools and companies.
Its client portfolio also includes law firms, free zones, advertising companies, marketing companies, businessmen and students.
