The SA9000: contributing to a comfortable working environment

A new-generation furniture system that Steelcase Jeraisy Ltd has designed for offices has the hallmarks of versatility and flexibility whilst providing maximum comfort to the user, the company says.

“The SA9000 system is designed to meet current modern needs and has many advantages over the competition,” a company spokesman said. “The extensive range of fabrics, laminates, glazed panels, acoustic panels, inbuilt accessory walls and marker boards along with integrated electrical and lighting contribute to a comfortable working environment,” he added.
In details he provided, the SA9000 work surface has a 30-mm-thick wood top, round grommets to pass cables through the work surface, and exciting new shades of finishes. The work surface supports on universal cantilever, end panels and corner brackets. The panels are of steel frame construction and are further provided with highly precise slots into which a range of system products can be hooked.  Panel skins can also be segmented and have the option to be laminated or made of solid steel with fabric or perforated steel. Also provided are acoustically good fabric skins.
The system is flexible to include panels that can be adjusted to form a cabin-like enclosure for privacy or open plan. The storage’s are binder bins hooked-type overhead modules and smoothly flowing mobile pedestals. Power outlets can be provided at desk height as well as at base and the electrical system has the option to be factory-installed or field-installed.
The SA9000 makes working on computers comfortable, the spokesman said. “Flat monitors can be lowered below the work surface whenever required. This increases the workspace when the computer is not to be used. Adjustment of the monitor can be remotely controlled.”
Steelcase Jeraisy expects the SA9000 to become popular among offices throughout the Gulf because of its compactness, design, integrated solutions, functionality, flexibility and comfort and also because it is a Gulf-made product.
Steelcase Jeraisy Ltd is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Jeraisy Group and Steelcase Inc USA, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of office furniture.
Established in 1994, the Saudi venture has a 40,000 sq m manufacturing facility in Riyadh that produces standard and special-needs customised furniture, including modular systems, panels, storages solutions, desk, seating systems, filing systems, chairs, screens and accessories.
Top clients include Aramco, Sabic, Saudi Electric, Saudi Telecom, National Guard, Mobily, Samba, HSBC, Al Rajhi, Jawwal and BNP Paribas.  The company has supplied to many other banks, universities and government offices/ministries in and around the region.
While it is enthusiastic about the SA9000, the company also expects some other products in its range to continue to do well including Doue and Quid
Doue has been designed to connote freedom and movement. “The Doue configuration can be dismantled, repositioned and rebuilt within minutes,” the company says. “Space can be re-designed, workstation-by-workstation to gain more use of the square metreage. Entire teams and new departments can be created.
“Along with its classic choice of materials, colours and finishes, Doue offers a wide selection of shapes of work surface tops.
“With a smart furniture system like Doue everything becomes easier. It’s like adding a new dimension to each square metre of space,” it says.
“The lateral mobility of the Doue leg allows a variety of workstation angles to be achieved. The individual workstation may need a different shape or different colours, a distinctive range of finishes, a screen and storage accessories. Doue allows users to be part of a team whilst maintaining their individuality. Recently we added a height-adjustable leg feature on Doue.”
The Quid system is described as the “complete open-space planning solution” that enables optimisation of the reception area, call centre, individual workstation and team area, among other places. The system is provided with ergonomic worktops. Quid users can choose from a variety of Quid worktops to build the workstation that meets their needs.  Compact wave tops offer maximum work surface without taking up more floor space. Panels are provided with built-in outlets for easier wire and cable management.
