The Filling and Packing Materials Manufacturing Company (Fipco), which was established in 1991 as a Saudi joint stock company, has become the Gulf’s largest producer of high-quality jumbo bags and other woven polypropylene packaging products for industrial and agricultural uses.
The company’s 75,000 sq m manufacturing facility is located in Riyadh’s Industrial City. It is ISO 9001:2000 certified and has reached an annual production capacity of more than two million jumbo bags. It also produces small sacks (5 kg to 50 kg capacity) and leno bags, as well as twisted products, such as cable fillers, agri twine and baler twine.
Fipco has more than 800 employees. It exports throughout the Gulf, as well as to advanced markets, such as North America and Europe, according to sales manager Najeeb Al Humaid.
“Around 70 per cent of our product line is sold in the Gulf,” he continued. “Our major local customers include Saudi Aramco, Sabic and Omni, to name a few.”
Al Humaid says Fipco regularly introduces new products in response to market needs. “For example, our latest product is the 20-foot container liner designed by highly-qualified engineers used for the bulk handling of petrochemicals, chemicals and seeds,” he explained.
Al Humaid says Fipco is also the first company in the Gulf to manufacture conductive type “C” bags.
He says the company’s recently introduced corporate objective has set the pace for a planned export expansion drive.
“We want to position ourselves for solid downstream industries growth and to expand our local and global presence through manufacturing and marketing efficiency,” he noted. “We want to continue to provide cost-effective products complying with the stated and implied needs of the customer and other regularity requirements.”
Al Humaid described Fipco’s quality assurance procedures, which are considered some of the most regimented in the industry.
“First, we conduct a specification and performance testing of all incoming raw materials and products,” he pointed out. “We follow a vertical production procedure from granulate to the finished bags.”
Al Humaid says Fipco then conducts an audit to ensure compliance of all ISO 9001-2000 procedures.
He cites some of the reasons Fipco is now a major supplier of jumbo bags in the Gulf.
“We have earned the trust of our regional clients because of our size,” he explained. “We provide faster delivery time due to high production capacity and have achieved consistently high quality over all of our shipments.”
Al Humaid says Fipco remains in the forefront of innovation in design, reiterating that its research and development branch maintains an edge in new-to-market products and concepts.
“Our products are inspected at each stage of production and tested before being dispatched, assuring quality control,” he continued. “We also provide an efficient after-sales service department.”
