Washington (US)-headquartered PFC Energy will serve as principal consultant and adviser for the multi-billion-dollar Energy City – Qatar project, it was announced recently.

PFC Energy, appointed by Gulf Energy, a global consortium of energy consultants and investors, is a renowned strategic advisor to energy companies and governments across the globe. It is recognised in the global energy industry for the depth of its analysis and the integrity of its advice. Some of the areas that it advises on include strategies for business development, upstream; downstream gas and LNG businesses; power, energy market and petroleum sector risks, and effective investor relations.
Commenting on the appointment of PFC Energy, Esam Janahi, CEO and board member of Gulf Finance House (GFH), said: “For the successful roll-out of a project of the significance of Energy City - Qatar, it is essential to have world-class partners who will help steer the project forward. It thus gives me immense pleasure to welcome PFC Energy as the principal strategic consultants for Energy City - Qatar.”
Energy City - Qatar is designed as the Middle East’s first integrated energy business centre for the global oil and gas business. It will enable the region, which accounts for over three-quarters of the world’s proven oil reserves to capture critical above-ground economic benefits and be a single point of access to markets and expertise, integrating technology, intellectual capital, finance and trading.
Vahan Zanoyan, CEO and president of PFC Energy, said: “Energy City – Qatar is a revolutionary concept that will transform the development process not only in Qatar, but also in the entire Middle East region.  We are delighted to be continuing our longstanding links in Qatar and the region. We are very proud to be partnering with Gulf Energy to drive the development of this pioneering energy hub.”
The appointment of PFC Energy adds momentum to the development of Energy City - Qatar, the first phase of which is estimated to cost $1.6 billion. Acknowledged as one of the leading firms in global energy, PFC Energy will advise Energy City - Qatar on strategy, opportunities and risks related to development. The announcement follows the recent appointment of Bahrain-based Gulf Finance House, one of the leading Islamic investment banks in the region, as lead financial adviser to the project.
