The second edition of SteelFab, the Middle East’s exclusive and established trade platform for the steel fabrication industry, will commence at Expo Centre Sharjah on January 22, 2006.
“The growth of the construction sector in the region is providing a significant boost to the steel working industry,” said Fasahat Ali Khan, acting director general, Expo Centre Sharjah, which is organising the exhibition.
Within the UAE, several major projects are currently on including Dubailand, Burj Dubai, Palm Island Projects, Dubai Mall, Dubai International Financial City, and Dubai Healthcare City. Spending on development projects is estimated at $81 billion over the next 10 years.
In 2001, the UAE imported $883 million worth of steel in 2001. In 2005, the figure is estimated to rise to $1.5 billion.
“Structural steel contractors within the construction sector can meet their procurement needs A to Z by visiting SteelFab,” said Khan in a press statement.
The exhibits at SteelFab will cover the complete requirements of steel contractors and showcase steel, fasteners, accessories, surface preparation, machinery and tools, welding and cutting, finishing and testing equipment, and coatings and anti-corrosion material.
The machinery segment at SteelFab will be the largest display of steel machinery in the Middle East. SteelFab 2006 will feature equipment from Austria, Belgium, China, Finland, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the US.
