Weicon, the German manufacturer of speciality products for production, repair and maintenance, recently opened a Middle East office in Dubai as part of a major push to capture markets in the region.

The initiative includes establishing a warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area, expanding the sales team in the UAE and appointing agents and distributors across the region.
The company has appointed a distributor in Bahrain and plans to “go” to Iran, said Weicon Middle East managing director Thorsten Lutz.
The Weicon brand boasts more than 400 offerings including chemotechnical products for almost all industries including oil and gas, ship building, galvanising, aluminium and construction and special stripping tools for cable and wire strippers.
The company was set up in Germany in 1947 and has been supplying products to the Middle East for over 15 years.
“The market in the region, particularly in Dubai, is booming,” said Lutz explaining why Weicon set up a physical presence there. Lutz added that having a warehouse would cut transportation costs and delivery time.
The office and warehouse in Al Quoz are currently under construction and should be ready by the end of this year or early next year. “We are hiring more people and looking for salesmen as the market here is alarmingly competitive” said Lutz.
Weicon is already well known in the region thanks to the business ties it established over a number of years. Lutz says the company has a strong clientele in Saudi Arabia and Qatar and is looking for tie-ups with big trading houses there and also in Kuwait and Oman. With a view to promoting its products, Weicon plans to participate in exhibitions including the Big 5 and the oil and gas shows.
It stresses that its products meet the quality requirements of the international market and that exports extend to 64 countries. Weicon GmbH & Co. KG, the parent company with its administrative and production facilities located in Munster in the German area of Westphalia, has long business experience.
Weicon’s client base in the Middle East includes companies involved in metal working; shipbuilding, yacht and boat building; the oil and gas extracting industry; hydraulic engineering and pneumatics, lighting industry and construction of pipelines and fittings.
“We not only sell products, but also provide the customers with technical data support and personal assistance by going directly to them and offering the right solution for their problems. On top of that, we educate potential clients so as to get the most out of Weicon products and we offer a very competitive price,” says Lutz, who underlines the brand’s quality and its practice to go directly to customers.

Metal sprays - Weicon offers a range of surface and anti-corrosion coatings including sprays in zinc, aluminum, zink-alu, stainless steel, copper and brass, chrome-silver.
The plastic metal - It is a two-component epoxy resin compound, which hardens practically without shrinkage, and is considered ideal material for repair and maintenance, toll and mould making.  It also provides fast, cost-effective and durable repairs to many different types of material.
Repair sticks - Two-component adhesives can bond metals, wood, glass, ceramics, concrete and many plastics.  Specific properties of the six available types cover a wide field of applications, including wet and damp surfaces as well as use under water.
Weiconlocks - These are one-component anaerobic adhesives/sealants, specially made for metal-assembly parts. In threaded joints for example, they completely fill the threads, creating the largest possible surface contact. They are fast reliable and economical for retaining, sealing and gasketing all kinds of threaded cylinders or flanged joints.
Weicon Contact cyanoacrylate adhesives - These are one-component adhesives and react in seconds with moisture and pressure. They quickly and durably bond a variety of materials such as rubber, plastics and metals to themselves and among each other. The Weicon Contact is a liquid and available in different viscosities.
Anti-seize - It is corrosion protector and high-performance assembly paste or spray. Due to the special formulation and most finely ground solid lubricants, the product fits all irregularities in the surface and effectively protects against seizure, abrasion, pitting and fretting corrosion. It withstands high-pressure loads (230 N/mm2) and is temperature resistant from -180 deg C up to 1,200 deg C.
Elastic adhesives, Silicone, Flex 310 (polyurethane-based) ,Flex 310 M and Flex+bond (hybrid polymer-based).
