Sadafco, the Saudi dairy and food giant, has said it will use the new Tetra Recart packaging as part of its efforts to promote sales locally and internationally.

The main features of the Tetra Recart technology are  that the packaging is easy to open, light weight, hygienic and recyclable and that while unopened the contents remain fresh and healthy for up to a year without the need for refrigeration.
Ahmed Al Marzouki, managing director for Sadafco, which has invested SR40 million in the new solution, said Tetra Recart would revolutionise the food industry within the Middle East and open new opportunities for his company as it strived to reach new markets and consumers with a full range of food products such as ready-to-eat vegetable and fruit products including beans, diced tomatoes and carrots.
He expressed confidence that Tetra Recart would enable the company to expand its market share into the traditional canned food market estimated at SR1 billion.
In addition to investing in the new technology Sadafco is investing heavily in building a new food brand, which the company plans to sell through distributor agreements throughout the GCC. Sadafco will pioneer the use of Tetra Recart from early 2006, Al Marzouki said.
“It will transform the face of food packaging in the Saudi market,” commented Amar Zahid, managing director of Tetra Pak Saudi Arabia.  He added that the packaging’s special qualities meant the availability of food products would broaden.
