MPIO, a South Korea-based company that produces a brand of portable digital audio devices, displayed in Dubai recently new products in its range of MP3 players.
These included MPIO FL300, FG100, FY400, HS200, HD200 and HD300, all of which will be made available in the Middle East in November, beginning with the UAE.
JK Woo, president and CEO of MPIO, said: “MPIO has achieved worldwide success with its former products like DMK, FL100 and FY200.” Woo observed that his company had positioned itself as the world’s leading company in portable digital audio devices, beating traditional portable audio giants such as Sony and Panasonic.
“MPIO’s products combine technology and fashion, which will eventually satisfy the fashion leaders as a digital accessory. We’re excited about coming to the Middle East market, and we expect to gain a very positive feedback from consumers here.”
Woo said MPIO represented up to 7.5 per cent of the global market share in 2003, accounted for 10.63 per cent of the US market and 8.50 per cent of the EU market. By the end of this year, the company expected to have a global market share of 10.62 per cent.
“The Internet and ‘music download’ industry in the Middle East region is growing fast, and subsequently the MP3 player market potential is huge,” commented Woo.
Since introducing its first model internationally in 1998, MPIO has released more than 40 different flash/CD/HDD-type MP3 players in the world market.
