Organisers of the interiors show Index 2004 promise visitors a good peek at offerings from international interior design, furniture, general furnishing and shopfitting industries.
The exhibition, now in its 14th year, annually welcomes over 33,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors on more than 26,000 sq m of floor space.
Around 20 per cent of exhibitors at this year’s Index, which will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from September 22 to 26, are drawn from the six-member Gulf Co-operation Council region, organisers dmg world media Dubai Ltd said.
“Companies from Oman and Saudi Arabia have specifically targeted Index 2004 as their main opportunity to showcase their wares within the region but with the added advantage of showcasing to a truly international audience,” a spokesman for the organisers said. “The construction-led growth of the region’s burgeoning economy has resulted in a substantial increase in turnover for a now-buoyant industry,” he added.
The region’s real estate sector is expected to gain in growth by 30 per cent during the next five years. With a host of new residential and free hold projects planned in the UAE. alone, this is set to give a big boost to the industry. At a regional level, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar have announced over $5 billion worth of real estate projects for the next two years, which are expected to further the demand for interior products and equipment in the GCC region.
Commenting on Index 2004, Kim Willis of dmg world media Dubai Ltd, remarked shortly before the show: “The Index exhibition grows year on year, and now the 14th show is nearly upon us. Exhibitor interest far outstrips the space we can offer and the show is fully sold out yet again, proving that the UAE and surrounding region is the interior industry hub of the whole Middle East and Africa.“
