FRENCH consultancy firm OTCE, based in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, envisions a greater role for itself in the GCC region following a boom in the construction sector.
OTCE, standing for Omnium Technique d’études de la Construction et de l’Equipement, operates in the field of engineering and projects’ management.
The company is currently engaged in the construction of the UYO Convention Centre in Nigeria, STC data centres in Riyadh and Dammam and a water tower of 500 cu m in Mozambique.
It is in charge of the rehabilitation of the Oued Smar Landfill in Algeria, the construction of a solid waste treatment facility in Turkey and the development of water tanks, networks and wastewater and treatment plants in Lebanon.
“International monitors still predict a stable outlook for the GCC countries due to the booming of the construction and industry sectors. Growth has continued and prospects remain positive for companies working in infrastructure and construction in the region,” a company spokesman said. “Many Gulf countries are heavily investing in infrastructure projects. A 19 per cent growth in the construction sector is forecast in 2013, with completed construction projects set to reach an amount of $81.6 billion.”
Simon Daniel, OTCE’s Middle East general manager, commented: “Based on its French origins, OTCE gives special importance to quality, which we consider as our main strength. We have professional teams listening to the specific needs of customers in order to offer a high quality of personalised services.
“Being established in Riyadh, 2012, will consolidate and sustain our approach. Our presence will help to be better positioned for the large projects we are targeting. 2013 is a turning point for us during which we will participate in many tenders. We hope to reap the first fruits of our efforts as from 2014. OTCE has already conducted several projects in the country.”
Saudi projects it has executed include the Princess Nora University in Riyadh, Towers H3 and H4 at Jabal Omar in Makkah and Bay La Sun Business Park in Jeddah.
It also delivered the Crystal and Plaza Towers in Lebanon, the AlAndalus Tower in Kuwait and the Eko Atlantic project in Lagos. The company was also involved with Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi.
