Namma Cargo performance strong

Logistics firm Namma Cargo transported in 2011 more than 1.5 million freight tonnes (FRT) of project cargo and is in the process of moving large amounts of that category of cargo under contracts it won during the year.

The projects it is catering for are some of the most high-profile industrial initiatives and include Maaden Rolling Mill for Samsung involving 135,000 FRT. Other high-volume ongoing projects are Samco AA for Tasnee, also under a Samsung contract, 80,000 FRT, and PC Eva Plant and Utilities for contractor GS Engineering, 75,000 FRT.

It is also moving major project cargoes for Sapco/Tasnee, 35,000 FRT; a port logistics facility for Sinopec, 20,000 FRT; Maaden Aluminium Casthouse for Samsung, 18,000 FRT, and Maaden smelter port facilities and silos for the same contractor, 3,500 FRT.

Away from project cargo, Namma Cargo is rendering in-kingdom logistics services for Sabic (air and sea) which have resulted in a tremendous increase of cargo movement, said a company spokesman. The company has a segregation facility in Jubail which has helped greatly in dealing with Sabic’s requirements.

Namma Cargo specialises in a gamut of services including warehouse-to-warehouse, door-to-door, air and ocean forwarding, packing and crating of industrial products, customs clearance, transportation and storage.

The repertoire also covers transit insurance, warehousing and distribution including bonded facilities at Dammam and Jeddah, local moves, air and ocean chartering, consolidation and marshalling, duty exemption services, temporary import services and obtaining chemical import permits.

Top revenue earners were warehouse- to-warehouse freight movement for petrochemical companies, project logistics, warehousing and distribution, personal effects packing and forwarding and customs clearance and transportation.

The company is an exclusive partner-agent for DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Industrial Project Division in Saudi Arabia.

Encouraged by the boom in business and sensing good prospects for the foreseeable future, Namma Cargo will be augmenting its fleet with several semi-hydraulic trailers by the end of Q2.

Nesma Holding Company owns 60 per cent of the company, followed by Rawabi Holding, 20 per cent, and Abdulrazaq Ali Alturki and Abdulhadi El Saif, 10 per cent each.
