Rezayat set to match 2010 mark

Based on half-year performance, Rezayat Protective Coating Company, also known as Rezayat Procoat, is on track to match its sales turnover of 2010.

The company, which specialises in producing fusion bonded epoxy coated rebar (FBECR), reported sales of SR200 million (SR53.3 million) for the January-June period of this year, half what it achieved for the whole of 2010.

FBECR is widely used in the construction industry for buildings, highways, bridges, culverts and tunnels and one of its main advantages is the ability to withstand corrosive elements in the environment such as moisture, chloride and industrial chemicals.

Rezayat’s plant is located in Dammam’s Second Industrial City and current production capacity is given as 100,000 tonnes per year. The company also has an in-house facility to cut and bend coated steel bar in line with structural drawings.

The company is an approved supplier of FBECR to distinguished entities such as Saudi Aramco, Sabic, the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Saudi Electric Company and the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu.

Rezayat’s current projects include Maaden, Manifa-Saudi Aramco, the Qurraya  Power Plant-SEC and road bridges in Dammam, Al Hasa and Hofuf, all in the Eastern Province. Supplies started earlier this year and are due for completion by mid-2012.

Major Saudi projects using Rezayat’s coated rebars include the Ghazlan power plant, Sabic headquarters, Yanbu desalination plant, Yanbu PTA aromatics plant, Abqaiq wastewater treatment plant, Dhahran International Exhibition Centre and the Shaybah oilfield infrastructure and pipeline project.

Other projects in the list are a Ministry of Defence building in Riyadh, Dare Al Youm building in Dammam, upgrade of Ras Tanura Refinery, Saudi Steel Pipe expansion, Aramco substation in Ras Tanura, Kemya’s LLDPE plant in Jubail, the Prince Nayf Commercial Building in Al Khobar, Middle East Poser Company in Dammam and ABG School in Qatif.

Overseas, Rezayat’s coated rebar has been used at the US embassy in the Philippines, Qatar’s embassy in Sudan, the Port of Aden in Yemen and Kuwait University in Shuwaikh.
