National Energy Services Reunited (NESR), an oilfield services provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), announced that its business segment, NESR Environmental and Decarbonization Applications (NEDA), has entered into an agreement with Aramco to execute the Aramco 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project in Saudi Arabia.
This first-of-its-kind project aims to produce 2,000 tonnes
per annum (tpa) of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with commissioning and
start of production planned for late 2027.
This agreement combines Aramco's deep subsurface expertise,
honed over decades of exploration and operations, along with NEDA's integrated
pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction (DLE), and carbonation technology
portfolio, housed under NESR's LiThara platform.
LiThara modular solutions are designed to condition brine
feedstock and extract lithium in a single, integrated process, enabling rapid,
scalable deployment.
This approach offers competitive operating costs and ensures
that the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate meets the fast-growing
demand of the global energy transition.
The project also builds on NESR's regional subsurface and
field operations experience across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. -TradeArabia News Service
