Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has signed a strategic partnership with global technology major Siemens to develop digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence applications and intelligent transport systems across the emirate.

The agreement, signed during the Liveability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026) held recently in Abu Dhabi, provides a framework for co-operation in municipal data and analytics, utilities and infrastructure, and intelligent mobility.

Under the agreement, both organisations will focus on harnessing data, artificial intelligence and digital technologies to support informed decision-making, improve operational performance and enhance the delivery of key services across Abu Dhabi.

The partnership will also encourage the exchange of expertise and best practices to support continued innovation across municipal sectors.

It was signed by DMT Acting Undersecretary Adel Abdulla Albreiki and Rohit Kumar, chief executive officer of Siemens Advanta Middle East & India.

Another area of co-operation will be AI-enabled stormwater and flood prediction, aimed at improving preparedness and planning during severe weather events, particularly in priority drainage areas.

The initiative is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader efforts to expand the use of digital technologies in infrastructure and transport while improving the efficiency and sustainability of municipal services, it added.
