The Saudi Industry Forum 2026 has discussed opportunities to develop the automotive industry and build integrated local supply chains

A session on localising the automotive industry, "Gateway to Discreet Manufacturing in the Kingdom", explored ways to localise manufacturing components and capabilities, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.

The session examined the concept of discreet manufacturing, which includes automobiles, machinery, equipment, and discrete products, and how it differs from process industries. Participants affirmed that expanding this type of manufacturing is a key path toward diversifying the industrial base and leveraging outputs from the manufacturing sector to develop value-added products.

Importance of supply chains

Participants highlighted the importance of supply chains as a key enabler of auto industry localisation. They stressed that the sector's growth depends on building a network of local suppliers that can meet manufacturers' needs and localise components. This also requires legislative, financing, and logistics frameworks suited to these industries.

The session also highlighted opportunities for entrepreneurs and industrial enterprises to localise the production of components needed by supply chains. It explored ways to turn challenges related to the availability of certain materials and parts into industrial and investment opportunities. This would help strengthen local content, boost the competitiveness of national products, and build a more integrated and sustainable industrial base.—TradeArabia News Service
