Kobelco will again use the Munich Bauma in April 2010 as the international launch-pad for the introduction of another new model in its widening SL (Super Lift) crawler crane range: a special new variant of the 550-tonne capacity SL6000. 

The base model of the SL6000, which was first shown at Bauma 2007, already comes with a wide variety of boom and counterweight configurations, including an 84 m maximum main boom and 84 m luffing jib combination, giving an impressive range of maximum height and reach combinations.

It has already proved very popular as a versatile, adaptable and easily transportable heavy-lift crane on a wide range of infrastructure and energy-related projects around the world. 

“Scotland-based Weldex international, which took delivery of that first machine in 2007, has since added four more new SL6000s to its fleet, and it is no surprise that the Weldex name will be on the new variant when it is shown at Bauma in April,” said Kobelco.  

Key features
As well as outstanding overall lifting performance, key features of the SL6000 include an efficient 329 kW Tier III diesel engine, a variable-displacement hydraulic pump system with six individual pumps, and convenient, accessible boom-mounted winches. 

It also embodies Kobelco’s ‘unit assembly system’ which optimises the transportation elements (with no individual item heavier than 45 tonnes or wider than 3 m), complying with worldwide transport regulations and greatly facilitating assembly, reconfiguration and disassembly on site. 

Also on display at Bauma 2010 will be a popular model in the medium-duty class, Kobelco’s 80-tonne capacity CKE800 which the company says has proved invaluable, especially for operations in confined spaces for general civil engineering and piling applications.
