Pythagoras Solar, provider of Photovoltaic Glass Unit (PVGU), the industry’s first solar window to simultaneously deliver energy efficiency, high power density and transparency, has expanded its advisory board to support increased interest generated from successful pilots and first commercial projects.
The board has added Richard Voreis, CEO of Consulting Collaborative, a US management consulting firm specialising in construction and buildings.
Pythagoras solar curtain walls, skylights and windows simultaneously block solar radiation, concentrate sunlight and convert it into solar power. They deliver a high level of transparency for optimal day lighting and aesthetics. Founded in 2007, it provides building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products.
'Our new PVGU technology finally bridges the gap between energy efficiency and energy generation — enabling the architecture, engineering and construction sectors to accelerate the deployment of cost-effective distributed power generation and to advance aesthetically-pleasing net zero energy buildings,' says Gonen Fink, co-founder and CEO, Pythagoras Solar. 'Our partners across the value chain are responding very positively to the combination of economic, environmental and aesthetic benefits.'
Pythagoras Solar products combine the energy efficiency benefits of an insulating glass unit (IGU) with the shading and lighting benefits of patent-pending optics, and high-efficiency solar power generation.
Pythagoras Solar is a privately held company with operations in the US, Israel and China.
Voreis brings more than three decades of experience working with industry-leading architects, contractors, engineers, trade associations and building product manufacturers. Voreis will help expand company sales into the growing BIPV market in the US, which is expected to reach $5B in 2015.
‘Poised for leadership’
'Pythagoras Solar created an exception to the commodity photovoltaic offerings with the first photovoltaic solar device that replaces conventional building materials, changes the energy equation and enables the creation of building designs with highly appealing aesthetics,' said Voreis. 'I believe Pythagoras Solar is poised to take a leadership position in this market.'
