Italy-based Faccin Srl, a specialist in rolling technology, recalled its ties with Saudi Arabia’s Al Zamil Heavy Industries (ZHI), and a supply it made recently to the company.

ZHI has expertise in the design, supply, manufacture, assembly, construction, installation and maintenance of capital equipment used in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, power generation, desalination and defence industries.

The company operates three divisions, namely steel fabrication, oil and gas and industrial cranes.

Faccin is a leader in the design and construction of plate rolls, angle rolls and dished head production lines with capability to satisfy plate rolling requirements for the manufacture of pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers and reactors normally used in the petrochemical sector.

'The latest project on which the companies Faccin and Al Zamil Heavy Industries worked together was a huge plate rolling machine able to transform up to over 300 mm thick plates into cylindrical shells by cold or hot forming. This machine is believed to be the most powerful and precise in the whole of the Middle East and makes the company Al Zamil Heavy Industries the reference point in the market for manufacturing of super-heavy reactors,' a Faccin spokesman recalled.

Faccin had already provided ZHI through the years a series of machines for the construction of pressure vessels, mainly plate bending machines and dished head production lines.

'All machines are designed and built entirely in Faccin’s factory in Italy and represent the best in terms of productivity and reliability. They are engineered to deliver the maximum performances for decades and are a guarantee for a solid investment in production equipment,' the spokesman said.

'Faccin’s product range dedicated to the petrochemical industry and generally relating to the manufacture of quality boilers includes also heavy plate beveling up to 18 m long and 200 mm thick. These machines operate by chip removal and are the ideal solution for normal and clad plates bevel weld preparation.

'Plate leveling, rolling, beveling, dishing, flanging with three- and four-roll bending machines, angle rolls, portal presses up to 4,000 tonnes with automatic manipulators and flanging machines are available in various sizes and levels of customisation to meet any needs of the most demanding customer in terms of quality and productivity,' he concluded.

The company was founded in the 1960s and quickly specialised in the manufacture of heavy duty bending rolls. The production of machinery is centred in Visano (Brescia) in the industrial north of Italy.
