Zamil Food exports increase

Zamil Food Industries (ZSI) says it exceeded in the first three quarters of this year the export value registered for the whole of 2009.

Exports were SR2.34 million ($623,900) in the January-September period against SR2.30 million in full-year 2009.

ZSI, established in 1978, is a subsidiary of Zamil Group Holding Company and has its head office and manufacturing plant in Jubail Industrial City. The company’s sales offices and warehouses are located in Jeddah, Riyadh, Al Khobbar, Al Hassa and Abha. A fleet of modern freezer trucks ensures that ZFI can distribute its products within Saudi Arabia and the GCC states.

The company produces dairy and meat products, has a laboratory to check on quality and safety and has certification for ISO-9001-2000 and ISO-2200-2005.

As well as processing at its own facilities a range of meat products such as mince meat, burgers, sausages, frankfurters, meat balls and breaded meats, the company imports a quantity of processed meat products for trading, said ZSI procurement manager Ranjith De Silva.

The company imports 99 per cent of its raw materials, beef coming from Brazil, mutton from Australia, dairy ingredients from the US and New Zealand and spices and seasoning from the UK.

Meat production at ZSI was 2,163 tonnes in the January-September period of 2010 against 2,744 tonnes throughout last year. Dairy production was 760,836 litres in the first three quarters of this year against 732,360 litres in full-year 2009.
