Fabricator Hidada is currently working on the Wasea bulk plant project where it is responsible for the construction and field erection of 15 carbon steel storage tanks for Saudi Aramco.
The project award followed the successful implementation of its contract for the Rabigh Power Plant Extension (stages 5 and 7) for Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
Initially nine tanks were awarded for Stage 5, the largest tanks at the plant. “The internal floating roof tanks with support columns were constructed as per API 650 standard. Later Hidada was granted an order for an additional three tanks for stage 7, an Hidada spokesman explained. The 12 tanks weigh a total of 10,250 tonnes.
“Meticulous planning and good project management work were undertaken to meet the challenges of the project,” the spokesman said.
Emal project
The company also successfully completed a project for Emirates Aluminium (Emal) in Abu Dhabi.
The fabricator’s contractual obligations included procurem- ent, engineering and production of 43,000 tonnes of steel, most of which constituted structural steel for site erection.
Turnkey solutions provider
“The massive erection work progressed with superior quality and brilliant safety standards,” said the spokesman, adding that it confirmed Hidada’s expertise as a turnkey solutions provider.
“Emal is the largest project that Hidada has undertaken in terms of quantity and contractual value,” said the spokesman.
Established in 1982 as a subsidiary of Xenel Group, Hidada has from time to time raised annual production capacity from 2,000 tonnes initially to more than 200,000 tonnes.
The company caters to a wide spectrum of industries including oil and gas, power, petrochemical and high-rise construction as well as cement, water desalination and smelters.
