
National Scientific Company (NSC), engaged in marketing a range of products, has diversified its portfolio by venturing into the manufacture of flexible industrial packaging.
In keeping with its growth strategy to continuously expand its product range, the Dabbagh Group subsidiary through a recent joint venture agreement with US firm Greif, aims to build a factory in Saudi Arabia that will manufacture woven polypropylene fabric that will be used in the making of finished flexible containers.
The joint venture also includes the flexible products business of Storsack, which was recently acquired by Greif and Greif’s multiwall bag business. Storsack is the world’s largest producer of flexible intermediate bulk containers with 3,000 employees and 16 production facilities worldwide.

NSC has been in business in Saudi Arabia since 1978 and specialises in providing turnkey laboratory solutions.
Its product portfolio covers laboratory furniture; laboratory equipment and instruments related to research, quality control, and testing; engineering services for analytical instruments; laboratory chemicals and apparatus; electroplating chemicals; and industrial chemicals.
“We also have a division to supply industrial chemicals to production plants and electroplating chemicals to jewellery factories,” said the company’s regional sales manager Syed Tariq Nazami.
The company is targeting sales worth $30 million this year against sales of $23 million realised last year. Analytical instruments contributed most to the 2009 turnover – about 45 per cent.
NSC is a registered supplier for many national companies including Saudi Aramco, Sabic, SWCC, Maaden. It also serves food & agriculture industries, R&D laboratories, jewellery industries and other sectors.
