Tyco invests in test chambers
Tyco Valves and Controls has invested in two hyperbaric chambers to test ultra-deepwater valves for its Flow Control Technologies division.
The two facilities can be used to simulate pressure conditions up to a depth of 3,000 m (9,842 ft), and to fully test subsea valve and actuator operation.
Each chamber has an equipment vertical loading system, with sufficient penetrations for electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic instrumentation, and ROV torque tools.
The facilities allow a range of tests including cycle testing many times beyond the valves/actuators’ operational requirements.
Plast-O-Matic develops ball valve
Plast-O-Matic Valves Inc has developed a new electrically-actuated polypro ball valve that will automatically accept virtually any input power signal.
Designed for pure water and chemical applications, the polypro valves are moulded with non-pigmented, plasticiser-free homopolymer resin and are assembled “dry” to eliminate contamination. They are available in 3/8 – 2 inch sizes.
Emerson valve aids flow control
E.ON has recently applied Emerson’s Fisher control-disk valve to improve backwash flow control within the water-treatment system at its combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Northwich, Cheshire, UK.
The resulting elimination of filter media losses and subsequent downtime has enabled E.ON to reduce costs and improve availability as it provides steam for two local soda-ash plants.
The E.ON CHP facility is one of the largest of its type in the UK, generating 130 MW of electricity for local residents and capable of supplying around 500 tonnes of steam every hour for two nearby soda-ash production plants.
Fushun gets LianDi system
LianDi Clean Technology Inc, a provider of clean technology, downstream flow equipment, engineering services and software to China’s leading petroleum and petrochemical companies, will implement its proprietary simulation training system for the operations staff at Fushun Petrochemical Company’s workers.
The system uses sophisticated mathematical models for simulating and monitoring user interface, installation, pumps, valves, compressors, and reaction processes. The system does the training and assessment, and also can manage the reaction process by changing parameters real-time in the process.
