Aramco inks deal with GE

Saudi Aramco has signed a corporate procurement agreement with General Electric (GE) for the supply of GE turbomachinery equipment and services to support the production of oil and gas in the kingdom.

The agreement also includes cooperation on initiatives focused on optimising the performance of Saudi Aramco’s installed fleet of turbomachinery equipment, which includes over 60 gas turbines, 90 compressors and more than 100 pumps.

Mars plant opens

Mars has opened a Dhs146.9 million ($40 million) chocolate bar factory in Jebel Ali.

The new plant is part of Mars’ plans to boost its sales across the Middle East and Africa from $450 million last year to $1 billion in five years, according to Ahmed Bayoumi, general manager of Mars GCC.

Overall confectionery sales are expected to increase by 10 per cent this year, figures from Euromonitor show.

EEF receives Qualicoat mark

Emirates Extrusion Factory (EEF), one of the leading aluminium extrusion companies in the UAE, has received top international quality certification for powder coating processes and products.

The certification verifying the entire powder coating process, from the powder used to its application, is awarded by Switzerland-based Qualicoat, an international quality label organisation committed to maintaining and promoting the quality of lacquering, painting and coating on aluminium and its alloys for architectural applications.

“With the Qualicoat certification, we receive official acknowledgment of our quality control procedures being at par with the highest international standards,” said Khalfan Al Suwaidi, managing director of EEF, a subsidiary of M’Sharie, the private equity arm of Dubai Investments.

Shows conclude

A total 225 exhibitors from 34 countries participated in two recently concluded events dedicated to the region’s construction, hospitality and industrial sectors in Dubai.

Domotex Middle East 2010, a carpets and floor coverings exhibition, that was held concurrently with R+T Middle East 2010, the Middle East spin-off of the world’s leading show for roller shutters, doors, gates and sun-protection systems, took place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
