Saudi Arabia’s electricity generation is expected to surge by 79.4 per cent between 2009 and 2019, while total investment is forecast to reach $80 billion for both electricity generation and distribution, according to the new Saudi Arabia Power Report from BMI.

The report further noted that by 2014, the kingdom will account for a sizeable 17.18 per cent of power generation in the Middle East and Africa, as the Middle East and Africa region expects to generate up to 1,659 terawatt hours by that time, increasing by 31.3 per cent from 2009.

Meanwhile, Saudi Elenex 2010, the 13th International Electrical Engineering, Power Generation & Distribution Exhibition, was staged recently at the Riyadh Exhibition Centre.
