Power-Gen Middle East will be staged at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre in Doha from October 4 to 6, 2010. This is the first time in the show’s nine-year history that it will be held in Qatar. The annual exhibition and conference will focus on the power generation, transmission and distribution and water industries.
Qatar’s power generation is expected to increase by 193.5 per cent before the year 2018, almost top of the range for the Middle East and North Africa region. The country will account for 1.85 per cent of the Middle East and Africa (MEA)’s regional power generation by 2013, having a broadly balanced market throughout the period.
According to forecasts, the country will experience an increase in generation to 1,609 TWh by 2013, representing a rise of 44 per cent between 2007 and the end of the period.
The event will be organised by PennWell Corporation and held under the patronage of Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Industry and chairman of the Board of Qatar Power.
Power-Gen Middle East 2010 will be co-hosted by Qatar Power, which is majority owned by Qatar Electricity & Water Company. Qatar Power is the owner of the Ras Laffan B IWPP.
