Namma Cargo Services Company, which celebrated its silver jubilee in 2008, has reported a modest revenue surge for the year.
Figures released by the company showed that revenues were SR465 million ($124 million) in 2008 against SR438 million, indicating growth of 6.1 per cent. The company had reported revenues of SR379 million in 2007.
Sectors contributing most to growth in 2008 were listed as warehouse to warehouse freight, project logistics, warehousing and distribution and personal effects packing and forwarding.
The company’s service range includes air and ocean forwarding and chartering; worldwide consolidation and marshalling; transportation; storage; transit insurance; customs clearance; duty exemption and obtaining permits for imports.
Namma is an exclusive partner-agent for DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Project Division in Saudi Arabia.
DHL announced that Namma would have full re-branding in 2009.
Namma is owned 60 per cent by Nesma Holding Co with other stakes held by Rawabi Holding, 20 per cent, and Sheikh Abdulrazaq Ali Alturki and Abdulhadi El Saif, 10 per cent each.
“Namma leads in providing services to the project industry having moved many major and prominent shipments for diverse industries including oil and gas, petrochemical upstream and downstream, energy, power and mining and exploration,” a company statement said.
“Namma has excellent working relationships with almost all major heavylift players. This gives it a wide-ranging choice and leverages negotiations for professional services,” it added.
The company’s total warehouse capacity is approximately 500,000 sq ft with main warehouses located in Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah. A fleet of 132 vehicles and over 140 leased vehicles have helped the company offer personalised and professional services to clients while tie-ups with many transportation companies have enabled it to offer better rates.
The company has built up a strong network of offices with three of the major ones in Al Khobar, Riyadh and Jeddah. Branch offices have been set up in Jubail, Tabuk, the Saudi-Bahrain Causeway, the Batha border and Yanbu. Additionally it is linked to brokers in the border areas of Salwa, Khafji and Hadisa.
