LG Electronics, the leading producer of consumer electronics, and their air conditioners distributor in Saudi Arabia, HG Ibrahim Shaker Co Ltd, won the Tower 180 project contract in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
The project, a 14-floor hotel in addition to the ground floor and the mezzanine, will benefit from the new LG’s Multi V Tropical model (VRF) for air conditioning the hotel.
The new 5-star hotel is part of six major developments launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, around the Haram Mosque in Madinah. The SR35 billion worth of projects include an expansion of the mosque’s northern courtyard and construction of residential towers to provide more housing and prayer facilities for pilgrims. The total area of the SR12 billion residential towers is estimated at 587,250 sq m, including 5-star hotels, commercial centres and prayer facilities for 200,000 worshippers.
The general contractor of Tower 180 project is the Saudi ABV General Contractors Co, one of the leading contracting companies in Saudi Arabia. The project consultant engineers Abdul Razak Hakeem is one of the leading consultants in Madinah and the Western Region of the kingdom. Established in the year 1406 H, they are presently consultants on most of the mega projects in the kingdom. Three proposals were submitted to Abdul Razak Hakeem. ABV compared all the proposals based on several factors, including the capacity of outdoor boards, the number of indoor units that could be linked to the system, the cooling temperature and efficiency, in addition to other factors, and approved the LG/Shaker proposal, requesting them to supervise the project throughout all its stages.
Simon Lee, LG Electronics’ general manager in Saudi Arabia, said: “LG Electronics and Ibrahim Shaker will supply the hotel with a complete system including outdoor units consisting of 26 Multi V 750 Hp units, single package of 25 tonnes, and indoor CCD 305 units. The system will be controlled using a PC controller, which is a simple indoor controller. The project will be completed by the end of this year.”
Monzer Khammash, Western Region CAC manager, Ibrahim Shaker Company, said LG’s Multi V technology had proved its efficiency and durability. He said, “We have launched our Multi V technology for the tropical region in 2008 incorporating features and benefits for both the installer and end-user to give ease and flexibility of installation, high efficiency and low noise.”
The Multi V Tropical for outdoor use has many features:
• It has a maximum 70 per cent Power saving with inverter system as it has high efficiency inverter compressor.
• It has a better performance, even outdoor. The outside cooling operation ranges from 5 degrees C to 54 degrees C.
• The piping elevation length is up to 100 m and total piping length 1,000 m.
• Multi V has an easy control system; it’s compatible for total solutions such as Homenet and smart homes.
Sheikh Hassan Shaker, the CEO of Ibrahim Shaker Co, said: “We are proud to win this great project, which will give us the opportunity to serve the visitors of the Haram Mosque in Madinah. In addition, this project will help us apply the latest LG technologies in the area of air conditioning.”
One of the key features of LG’s Multi V system is MPS (Remove) inverter control, which allows energy savings of up to 70 per cent. Economy is further enhanced through the intelligent Multi-V Tropical Inverter system, which gauges the cooling or heating load and uses the correct compressor, or combination of compressors, to best achieve the desired effect.
