Zamil meat processing lines
Zamil Food Industries, which produces dairy and meat products and resells imported items, hopes to raise sales with new product launches.
Total sales in 2007 were SR93.8 million ($25.02 million), up nearly 17 per cent over the previous year. The company reported sales of SR34.17 million in this year’s first quarter, which puts it in line to overtake 2007 sales assuming that the general tempo is maintained.
Contributing to the success in 2007 was the launch of breaded chicken burgers and pop chicken and this year it is in the process of introducing breaded chicken nuggets to be followed next year by new lines, said sales and marketing manager Ranjith De Silva.
The Saudi market accounts for an overwhelming portion of sales.
Based in Jubail, the company produces dairy and meat products for various markets including the institutional, catering and retail sectors.
De Silva said one of the keys to success was adhering to “traditional values” in the business.
The company’s dairy production is marketed under the trademark “Blue Ribbon.” The processed meat division markets its offerings in bulk and retail packs.
Zamil Food has a very active trading business from imports of a wide variety of frozen food products for resale in Saudi Arabia.
Helping to keep revenues moving is the van sales division which covers metropolitan cities and rural areas.
Its offerings for the catering trade include milk and ice cream in six-gallon packs.
The company has its own laboratory and sales offices and warehouses in Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, Al Hassa and Tabuk, among other places.
Established in 1978, Zamil Food is a subsidiary of the Zamil Group, a diversified operation that includes steel fabrication and the manufacture of air conditioning equipment, plastics and stained glass.
