A Clic factory at the Subhan Industrial Area

Manufacturer of security chain link fencing Clic National Fence and Metal Industries has reported it produced 2,000 tonnes of chain link fabric in 2007 against 1,600 tonnes in the previous year.

Production of barbed wire was 350 tonnes, more than double the 2006 level, the company reported.
Turnover from its production facilities aggregated $8 million in 2007, up 30 per cent over the previous year.
Sales from manufactured and engineered products include PVC material to coat pipes and wires and fabricated items.
Clic also operates a trading division whose annual turnover is approximately $30 million. Larsen & Toubro, a Clic principal, was awarded earlier this year a contract by Kuwait National Petroleum Company for the supply of reactors and separators for the clean fuel project 2020 at a value of $423 million.
“Demand for our fencing products is on the rise, not only in Kuwait but also in Iraq, which is our biggest export market,” said Clic general manager MT Prasad.
“We are confident that in 2008 and the next year we will be able to increase our share of the local market as well as exports to neighbouring countries,” he said.
The company has three factories spread over an area of 5,000 sq m in the Subhan Industrial Area. As well as supplying a range of fencing products, Clic provides design support and installation.
During the past two years, Clic has supplied material to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior for a border fence of 200 km. The Ministry of Public Works of Kuwait purchased fencing material for length aggregating 75 km.
The company’s material was also used for fences ordered for the Kuwait oil sector (50 km), US Army (50 km) and Kuwait’s  Ministry of Defence (42 km), Civil Aviation (26 km), Ministry of Electricity and Water for its Al Zour Power Station (22 km), Khairan Resort (18 km) and miscellaneous infrastructure projects (100 km).
“As part of our expansion plan we have commenced fabrication of uPVC doors and windows,” said Prasad.
The official said the company would demolish one of its old factories to build a larger and more modern facility.
The raw material for fencing is imported mainly from Australia, Malaysia, China, India and the GCC states. For uPVC doors and windows, the profiles and fittings are imported mainly from Germany. Clic has a subsidiary in Qatar.
