SIG Combibloc Obeikan, a joint venture between SIG Combibloc Germany and the Obeikan Group in Saudi Arabia, has been associated with Kuwait’s Arabian Beverage Company (ABC) for over seven years.
The success story in the cooperation between ABC and SIG Combibloc Obeikan started in 2001 with the installation of the first SIG Combibloc filling machine, according to a spokesperson for SIG Combibloc Obeikan FZCO, Dubai.
During 2005 dairy production was brought in-house and for the first time exports exceeded Kuwait sales. Only two years later ABC had almost doubled its production output.
ABC started its business in Kuwait in 1960 and is one of the leading beverage manufacturers in the region. Located in the Subhan Industrial Area, the company has all the advantages of well-established infrastructure. It has expanded its business and size many times.
“It has always been a trendsetter, continuously offering the highest quality to its consumers not only in Kuwait but also in neighbouring countries, the spokesperson for SIG says. The country has always had a very strong economy and the fact that the conditions for exporting out of Kuwait have been made simpler helped contribute to ABC’s flourishing expansion. Today 600 people work for ABC and its products range encompasses over 40 different products including water, juices, milk drinks and desserts. With an expected annual growth of 40 per cent in the coming years, the future looks very bright.
To ensure long-term market success, ABC works closely with well-known brand manufacturers and strategic partners such as SIG Combibloc Obeikan. ABC aims to offer the best-tasting premium quality products made from the finest ingredients. In achieving this objective, the quality of the ingredients, the production methods and the packaging solutions all play an important role. The quality characteristics associated with carton packaging are many but one of the important aspects is that carton packs are easy to transport and simple to store. Market demands are much easier to handle and transportation is not an issue.
A major highlight of 2007 was a celebration marking the one billionth package. Norbert Hoffman, COO of SIG Combibloc Obeikan, handed a trophy to Adnan Al Mousa, general manager, ABC.
With production facilities in Riyadh, SIG Combibloc Obeikan offers technical assistance to customers anywhere in the Middle East and Africa through offices and engineers in the area.
SIG Combibloc is one of the world’s leading systems suppliers of carton packaging and filling machines for beverages and food. Employing approx. 3,890 people, the company recorded sales of 1,210 million euros in 2006. SIG Combibloc is a division of SIG Holding AG, Switzerland.
