Italy-based Faccin is a world leader in designing, manufacturing and selling plate bending rolls, section bending rolls and dishing and flanging lines for large dome ends.
The company claims reputed companies in the Middle East are using Faccin equipment to guarantee a superior quality for their projects in the oil and gas industry, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and road tanks.
It names some of its customers as Al Zamil Heavy industries, Belleli Energy UAE, Bilfal, Al Zamil Metalworks Factory, MIS Arabia, ISCO Kw, Arabian International Company for Steel (AICSteel), ABJ Engineering and Contracting, Gorica industries and Al Jaber Trailer Factory
Faccin, founded in the 1960s, specialises in the manufacture of heavy-duty bending rolls. “A remarkable tendency towards technological innovation and continuous investment in research and development rapidly brought Faccin a reputation for offering outstanding quality, reliability and state-of-the-art rolling solutions, and in a short time became the reference point for rolling technology,” a company spokesman says.
Production of machinery is centred in Visano (Brescia), in the Industrial north of Italy. Here the Faccin factory covers an area of 60,000 sq m, of which 15,000 sq m is used for construction and 1,250 sq m is used as office space. This represents the world’s largest factory dedicated to the production of bending rolls.
Continuous investment in new equipment allows Faccin to be involved in all aspects of production of machines, not just the assembly of bought-in component parts, but also the manufacturing of parts - from the construction of the electro-welded structures and machining of those structures to the machining of the forged rolls. Faccin has direct control over all production processes, monitoring each step ‘in house’ and assuring total quality assurance.
The Faccin internal design office works on a modern network with the latest versions of 2D and 3D CAD software, using finite elements methods (FEM) for structural dimensioning. The management of production, orders, design, construction, machining, heat treatment, stock and assembly is all fully computerised with a modern enterprise resource planning software (ERP2) installed on the whole company network. The organisation is directed by ISO 9000-registered procedures.
Together with the acquisition of new-generation production systems, Faccin has invested major internal resources in research and development.
“This proactive attitude made it possible to present to the world market the first complete plate roll line with electronic synchronisation of the bending axis (MCS),” the spokesman said. “Then in 1988 the worlds most advanced graphic numerical control (CNC-PGS) system was presented and in 1993 the most advanced FMS solution for plate rolling, complete with loading and unloading robots and feedback as well as constant control of bending radius with automatic compensation of the bending parameters.”
Added the spokesman: “A wide network of sales and technical centres, specialising only in bending rolls, offers the most complete and highest standard of service, resulting in Faccin being the ideal partner to solve any bending roll requirement and the supplier to choose for the third millennium.”
Faccin’s machines range includes:
• Plate rolling machines 2, 3 and 4 rolls; a wide range of geometries single and double pinch; thickness from 0.2 mm to 200 mm (and more) and lengths from 0.5 m to 18 m
• Profile bending machine and beam benders up to 18.000 cu m of section modulus.
• Complete and automatic dished end lines. Presses, manipulators and flanging machines up to 50 mm thickness and 10 m diameter.
